Trump announces Fox News host Pete Hegseth as Defence secretary Pick.

In a surprise, Trump announces Fox News host Pete Hegseth as Defence secretary Pick.

President-elect Donald Trump has announced that fox news host, Pete Hegseth as Defence Secretary. Pete is an author and a celebrated military veteran, who has served in Afghanistan and Iraq as part of the American troops there. Trump supported his new role by terming him “tough, smart and a true believer in America First”.

Pete Hegseth was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ivy League graduate Hegseth has in recent years worked as a conservative commentator. He lives with his wife and seven children in Tennessee. He is known for hosting programmes on fox news regarding the issues of military and veterans. One of his achievements, he has lobbied for pardoning the servicemen accused of war crimes during the previous presidency of Donald trump.

While announcing this major development, Trump praised Pete for his education from Princeton and Harvard universities, and for his military experience in Afghanistan and Iraq. “With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice – our military will be great again, and America will never back down,” said Trump.

Trump’s pick Pete Hegseth is known for his radical stances supporting the president- elect Donald Trump. Some in the defense establishment term this affair as a reward from Trump for his loyalty. It is true that Pete Hegseth is a military veteran but even after that people are surprised by his nomination to the secretary’s post as it is being said that he has no political experience of that nature.

However, in what is being termed as a snub to Vivek Ramaswamy as well as Elon Musk, Trump has named them to head the Department of cost cutting and government efficiency.

Trump has been shaping his government after his win in presidential elections last week. Alongside Hegseth, Trump has picked John Ratcliffe for heading the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Notably trump has a lot to do through the department of defence as he has been a fierce critic of Biden Administration for taking the wrong defence policy decisions such as supporting the Kyiv in ongoing Russia – Ukraine conflict.
